Making Strides Against Breast Cancer
On October 17, 2021, the OBGYN Club at TouroCOM participated in the 25th annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer of Hudson Valley at the Woodbury Common Premium Outlets. OMS I and OMS II students assisted in raising awareness for breast cancer by not only participating in the walk, but also raising funds and supplying breast simulators. These simulators provided three different examples of what different types of breast masses feel like. Members of the community, including survivors of breast cancer were pleased to see that they could use these simulators to show their family members what to look out for when examining their own breasts. Students were able to hear survivors' stories and learn from their experiences dealing with breast cancer from diagnosis to recovery. Our TouroCOM team is proud to have been one of the 219 teams that participated this year and helped raise $350,000 to the American Cancer Society.
